FIFA World Cup Aliou Cisse Congratulates Egypt For Pharaohs’ Win Over Teranga Lions

Senegal national team manager, Aliou Cisse, congratulated Egypt for the performance of the Pharaohs And win over the Teranaga Lions in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers on Friday.

The Pharaohs managed to snatch a crucial 1-0 win against Senegal in the first leg to take a slight advantage going into the away game. The only goal of the game came in the fourth minute through an own goal by Saliou Ciss.

A brilliant through ball from Amr El-Sulya to Mohamad Salah was skilfully controlled by the Liverpool man, whose strike came off the bar. But the rebound hit Ciss before rolling into his own net.

Cisse says they will need to prepare really well for the second game scheduled to take place next Tuesday, 29 March in Dakar at 15:00 GMT to avoid the mistakes that cost them the loss.

It was a balanced match. Egypt took advantage of the opportunity and scored early. We had many chances. But we lacked the effectiveness necessary draw.” Cisse said in the post-match press conference.

The Egyptian team played well. For us, this is the time to prepare for the next match and avoid the mistakes of the first leg.

“I told the players to keep their heads high. This is the first leg and there is still a second match in our stadium and with our fans. We saw the great impact of the Egyptian fans. And this will be in our favour when we play at home.

“1-0 is psychologically important for Egypt. For us psychologically, it’s not a big result. We have a lot of work to do and preparations to ensure a different reaction in the next match.

“We started the game very well, despite the goal we conceded, we had more possession and were in control of the match. But we lacked offensive effectiveness. Our loss doesn’t mean that we played poorly.

“I’m satisfied with the performance of the players. The Egyptian national team taking advantage of its opportunity doesn’t mean that we have a problem at the individual or collective level in the formation.

“In football, there must be offensive and defensive effectiveness. And this is what we had in the second-half. Work and preparation will be carried out without any changes.

“I don’t know the repercussions of Abdou Diallo’s injury. And I’m waiting for the medical examination. We need complete self-confidence and preparation to play a good match.

“I congratulate Egypt for the win and their performance.

“The enthusiasm has not decreased after the Egypt goal. We continued with the same performance and we will prepare well for the return.” He concluded.
