News Zambia’s Copper Queens hold Morocco in pre-AWCON match

Zambia senior women’s national football team  came from behind to hold hosts Morocco on Saturday evening in a warm-up match.

The team from Southern Africa trailed to Misozi Zulu’s own goals she scored in the 62nd minute at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex

However, Zambia made amends as Grace Chanda scored for the Copper Queens this time around in the right net to level matters.

Zambia coach Bruce Mwape named a strong side for Saturday night’s assignment with star Barbara Banda in action.

The Copper Queens are preparing for the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) scheduled for Morocco next month.

Zambia expect to play three strength testing matches ahead of the AWCON’s kick off.

The continental football showpiece will run from July 2 to 23 in Rabat and Casablanca.

Zambia are in Group B alongside Cameroon, Tunisia and Togo.
