Africa Soccer Morocco to play two South American teams in friendlies this month

Morocco will play two friendly games against two South American nations this month as part of their preparations for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Atlas Lions will be in action as many of the African teams in September with CAF having postponed the AFCON 2023 qualifiers for the continent’s teams who secured Qatar ticket to get prepared well for the world’s biggest football tournament.

After Tunisia scheduled a friendly with Brazil, Morocco have also identified two opponents from South America to help new coach Walid Regragui settle his team.

“The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), in collaboration with McSport, has scheduled two international matches for its national A team on September 23 to 27 against two South American teams, Chile (29th in the FIFA rankings) and Paraguay ( 50th FIFA)”, a statement of the FRMF sent to Africa Top Sports reads.

The first game against Arturo Vidal’s Chile will be played in Barcelona on Espanyol’s ground while the second game against Paraguay will take place at the Benito Villamarin Stadium, Betis.

As a reminder, Morocco are located in Group F alongside Kevin De Bruyne’s Belgium, Luka Modric’s Croatia and Alphonso Davies’ Canada in the World Cup.
