Friendly Flying Eagles Soar Above Chipolopolo Of Zambia In Friendly

The Flying Eagles, Nigeria’s U-20 men’s national team, defeated Zambia 4-2 in a friendly match played at the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja.

For this year’s CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, both teams utilized the friendly as practice.

For Ladan Bosso’s team, the scorers were Haliru Sarki, Olamilekan Adams, Emmanuel Uchegbu, and Samson Lawal. For Zambia, the scorers were Moses Mulenga and Lasmond Phiri.

In the 43rd and 59th minutes, Mulenga tied the score at one after Sarki had taken the early lead.

Olamilekan gave the Flying Eagles the lead back after 62 minutes, and Phiri’s goal in the 66th minute gave Zambia the lead back at 2-2.

Uchegbu scored the Flying Eagles’ third with 15 seconds remaining, and Lawal added the fourth on the 88-second mark.

At the U-20 AFCON, the Flying Eagles are in Group A with the hosts Egypt, Mozambique, and Senegal.

On February 19, they’ll start their offensive against the Senegalese.

With the Gambia, Tunisia, and the Benin Republic, Zambia is in Group C.

The competition this year, which will take place from February 19 to March 11, will also serve as the African qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia in 2023.

The top four U-20 AFCON teams will advance to the World Cup.
