AFCON-20 AFCON U20: Monteiro Delighted With Mozambique Impress Start

Coach Dario Monteiro of Mozambique acknowledged his happiness with his Young Os Mambas’ goalless draw with Egypt in the tournament’s opening game.

The COSAFA runners-up maintained composure in the crucial moments of the highly anticipated Group A match on Sunday at the Cairo International Stadium to earn a crucial point against the hosts.

We’re satisfied with the result against Egypt and it’s an important point for us in the tournament,” Monteiro said after the match.

The Young Pharaohs controlled the most of the game’s possession, but they did not take advantage of their advantages.

“It was a difficult match, but we are happy with the team’s performance today.

We defended well and looked dangerous on the counter attack,” Monteiro added.

“Egypt created many chances, but we’re pleased with our performance today.

“We have a good team and we showed that today against a strong team.

“We will fight in every match to realize our objectives in this tournament.”
