AFCON-20 AFCON U20:Gaber Unhappy With Egypt Opening Game

In the wake of his team’s fruitless draw with Mozambique in the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations opener, Egypt coach Mahmoud Gaber has vented his anger.

The Young Os Mambas kept the hosts at bay in their Group A opener on Sunday at the Cairo International Stadium.

The encounter was dominated by Mozambique’s use of counterattacks, which irritated the opposition and forced Egypt’s coach to concede that his team was wasteful.

We are not afraid of facing any team and we were not calm when we had our chances,” Gaber said at his post-match press conference.

“We didn’t focus with our chances and that’s one of the reasons why we failed to win.

“The Mozambican national team relied on the break and defended well which made it difficult.”

The Egyptian coach, though, is satisfied with how his team played.

On February 22 at the Cairo International Stadium, the Young Pharaohs will compete against the Nigerian Flying Eagles.
