AFCON AFCON 2023 Qualifier: Super Eagles Opponents Settles For Draw

Sierra Leone and Sao Tomé and Principe, Super Eagles’ opponents in Group A of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers, drew 2-2 on match day three on Wednesday in Agadir, Morocco.

Sierra Leone and So Tomé and Principe have now gone three games without a win in qualifying.

The Leone Stars, the host team, had suffered five consecutive defeats.

Since So Tomé and Prncipe having lost their last two games (5-1) against 2023 AFCON Group A opponents Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria (10-0).

Luis Leal put So Tomé ahead in the 43rd minute, but Bundu equalized on the 48th.

On 59 minutes, Leal scored his second goal to put So Tomé up 2-1, but Komeh equalized for Sierra Leone with 12 minutes remaining.

Sierra Leone is third with two points, and So Tomé is fourth with one point.

So Tomé will host Sierra Leone in the second match, which will also take place in Agadir on Sunday, March 26.

The Super Eagles will face Guinea-Bissau in the other Group A encounter on Friday at the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja.

In other 2023 AFCON qualifiers on Wednesday, Rwanda held Benin Republic to a 1-1 draw at home in Group L.
