AFCON U17 AFCON U17: Eaglets To Face Burkina Faso In Quarter Final

The Nigerian Golden Eaglets will take on Burkina Faso in the 2023 TotalEnergies AFCON U17 African Nations Cup quarterfinal.

The aim for the Nduka Ugbade-led U17 lads was a semifinal and world cup ticket, according to the Nigerian Football Federation. This indicates that the Golden Eaglets must defeat Burkina Faso on Thursday in order to accomplish the feat.

Senegal and Nigeria both had to wait till Burkina Faso and Cameroon’s match was over in order to see who their upcoming opponents would be.

The Golden Eaglets, who placed second in Group B, will take on Burkina Faso, who ultimately finished second in Group C, according to the CAF’s official website.

With three points from three games, Burkina Faso finished second in Group C behind Mali, who will play Congo in the quarterfinals.

On the other hand, Senegal will play the third-placed team in a best-of-threes match.

Zambia, Congo, and Cameroon ended as the top thirds in Groups B, A, and C, respectively, after South Sudan was disqualified.

The final quarterfinal match is now decided because Cameroon finished third in the best of thirds.

The matches are slated for May 10 and 11, 2023, at 5 and 8 p.m. on those days, respectively.

The five-time world champion Eaglets will trade blows with Burkina Faso on Thursday in an effort to get to the semifinals. Africa will be represented by all semifinalists in the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2023.
