Uganda Vipers SC under pressure but know what is at stake – Karisa

Vipers SC skipper Milton Karisa has conceded there is pressure for the league champions as they prepare to tackle their remaining two Ugandan Premier League fixtures.

The Venoms will travel to face a tricky opponent in BUL FC on Tuesday at the Fufa Technical Center, Njeru, seeking victory to help cement their top position in the league table.

“Yes, of course, there’s pressure because, with two games to go, you don’t have to make any mistake,” said Karisa to Vipers Media as quoted by the club’s official website.

“There’s a little bit of pressure, but not a lot of it because we know what’s at stake. But, I’m very sure my fellow players and I, are very ready and I pray we win the remaining two games so we get crowned champions.”

The Venoms are currently sitting at the summit with 49 points, joint with second-placed KCCA FC and third-placed SC Villa, but they have a superior goal difference.

During the first round meeting at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende, Vipers defeated BUL 2-1 with goals from Karisa and Cromwell Rwothomio while Karim Ndugwa, who has since left BUL to join the Venoms, netted the former’s only goal.

However, Vipers will miss the services of Marvin Joseph Youngman, Livingstone Mulondo, and Murushid Juuko, who have already been ruled out of the remaining games of the 2022-23 season.

Vipers will conclude the season with a home fixture against Jinja SSS on Saturday.
