AFCON AFCON 2023Q:Comoros Islands Call Uo Three New Players For Lesotho

The Comoros Islands have made three changes to their lineup for Saturday’s crucial match against Lesotho in South Africa in an effort to replicate their unexpected qualification for the most recent Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The islands from the Indian Ocean had a spectacular debut tournament in Cameroon 18 months prior, where they advanced to the round of 16, but they are having difficulty this time getting to the Ivory Coast finals.

They are only three points off of third place in Group H after losing three of their last four games.

To maintain their tenuous prospects, they must defeat the Basotho at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto, but they also depend on the Ivory Coast defeating Zambia away in Ndola on the same day in the other group game.

Winger Soiyir Sanali and offensive midfielder William Vouama, both of whom compete in France’s fourth division of football, have been recalled by head coach Younes Zerdouk.

Halifa Soulé, a midfielder who is also based in France, rejoins the team after a four-year absence.

The trio fill in for the injured El Fardou Ben Mohamed, Nasser Chamed, and Faz Mattoir, who are all seasoned players.
