La Liga champions FC Barcelona announced the signing of Inigo Martinez on a free transfer as his contract ran out with Athletic Bilbao on June 30.
The 32-year old emerged as a summer target for the Blaugranas when they were informed that he will not sign a new deal with Bilbao.
Barcelona then jumped into the opportuinty and got their hand on one of the best centre-backs in La Liga.

“An agreement has been reached between FC Barcelona and Iñigo Martínez for the player to join the Club after his contract with Athletic Club ended”, the club statement reads.
“The player is set to sign a two-year deal that ends on June 30, 2025, with the release clause set at 400 million euro.”
“I come with a lot of enthusiasm and pleasure to bring everything I have. Joining this great club means a lot to me”, Inigo Martinez told Barça TV.
