Ugandan Premier League side KCCA FC have announced the signing of Brazilian Joao Gabriel Esteves Cardoso ahead of the new season.
A statement on the club’s official website confirmed the arrival of the 21-year-old winger from ADC Cabofriense in Brazil. “Brazilian youngster Joao Gabriel Esteves Cardoso has signed for KCCA,” said the club on their official website page, adding: “The South American penned a two-year deal until 2025 and he becomes the first Brazilian to play for KCCA. Gabriel, a 21-year-old winger / forward joins KCCA FC from ADC Cabofriense in Brazil.”
Speaking after being unveiled, Gabriel said: “I’ve always been interested in playing in Africa, and I’ve been following KCCA for a while now. I’m really impressed with their style of play, and I think I can fit in well with the team,” adding: “I’m also excited to experience African culture and to play in front of the passionate fans. I want to help KCCA win the league title. I also want to make a positive impact on the team and to help them reach the next level.

“I think African football is on the rise. There are a lot of talented players coming out of Africa, and I think the continent is becoming more competitive. I’m excited to be a part of that growth, and I think African teams will be successful in the years to come.”
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel has featured for Brazil’s Flamengo in U17 (2018) and U20 (2019-2020) and also previously featured for Germany’s FCA Darmstadt. Gabriel becomes KCCA’s first signing ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Gabriel also becomes new coach Sergio Traguil’s first signing at the Kasasiro Boys and is expected to report for pre-season on July 16 at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
