Premier League Manchester United lose second player to injury in pre-season

Manchester United have lost yet another player to injury this time Amad Dialo, who will miss the first part of the Premier League season.

“Manchester United winger Amad will miss the first part of the Premier League season,” confirmed a statement on the club’s official website, adding; “The 21-year-old sustained a knee injury during the tour of the United States that is going to keep him out of action.

“It is a blow to the youngster’s hopes of making his mark, after being involved in the earlier stages of our pre-season campaign. Amad is, of course, sidelined for this weekend’s double-header against Lens at Old Trafford and Athletic Club in Dublin. The Ivory Coast international scored in the game against Rayo Vallecano in 2022 when we also had back-to-back friendlies on a Saturday and Sunday.”

The statement continued: “Unfortunately, he [Dialo] has also been ruled out of the first part of the 2023/-24 campaign, and we await further details on his estimated recovery date, with the home league clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers up first for Erik ten Hag’s Reds on Monday August 14.”

Amad enjoyed an excellent season on loan at Sunderland last term, top scoring in the league with 13 goals and helping the Black Cats to reach the Championship play-offs. His news follows confirmation that teenage midfielder Kobbie Mainoo faces a spell out after flying back from the United States with an ankle injury.
