Basketball betPawa, FERWABA unveil title sponsorship for playoffs

betPawa, a leading sports betting brand, and FERWABA, the representative body for Rwandan basketball, have unveiled the ‘betPawa Playoffs’, marking a new era in the sport.

This follows the signing of a comprehensive sponsorship deal in June that included support for the league playoffs, D1 men’s and women’s basketball leagues, all-star events, and the Car Free Day 3 by 3 game. With a remarkable investment of RWF423.9 Million ($360,000), betPawa’s commitment to Rwanda’s basketball aims to empower local players, elevate the fan experience, and foster community development.

“This partnership represents a shared vision for progress and a commitment to shaping a brighter future for Rwandan basketball,” said Ntoudi Mouyelo, Managing Director of Mchezo – the company that owns the betPawa brand. “The betPawa Playoffs signify a new era in Rwandan basketball, where players, as well as teams, will have unprecedented opportunities to shine,” added Richard Nyirishema, second Vice President from FERWABA.

The event was attended by key stakeholders, including executives from betPawa and FERWABA, basketball teams and players, government officials, and sports enthusiasts. “With betPawa’s investment and support, we envision a future where Rwandan basketball flourishes, fostering a sense of pride and unity within our community and among the players as they stand to gain both, indirectly and directly, through initiatives such as the locker room bonus,” said Charlotte Mugwaneza, APR Women Captain.

The partnership between betPawa and FERWABA embodies a shared commitment to community development, empowering players and fans, and elevating Rwandan basketball to new heights. Together, they embark on a transformative journey that promises to create a lasting legacy in the hearts of basketball enthusiasts across the country.
