The DStv Premiership Monthly Awards have made a return, with coach Rhulani Mokwena and Lucas Ribeiro gracing the first month – the month of August – as the Coach of the Month and Player of the Month respectively.
In the month of August, Bafana Ba Style played six games and won all of them. Overall, they scored thirteen goals and only conceded two, one against Sekhukhune United in the season opener, and the other against Kaizer Chiefs in their second game. The consistency Downs showed led to Mokwena receiving the accolade.
Ribeiro on the other hand, managed to score four goals in six games. He cemented his name in the DStv Premiership when he scored his debut goal in the season opener against Sekhukhune United. He went on to score his second goal against Kaizer Chiefs and a brace that saw his side win the match against Polokwane City.
Ribeiro’s good run of form saw him receive the first Player of the Month award this season in the DStv Premiership.
