Women Football WAFCON Qualifier: Boaduwaa hits brace as Ghana beat Namibia

Doris Boaduwaa scored in either half to propel Ghana to a 3-1 win over Namibia in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final round 1st leg qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.

The Black Queens dominated play and took the lead in the 26th minute through Doris Boaduwaa. Captain Portia Boakye doubled the lead inside 37 minutes when her deliciously flown corner kick zoomed straight into the far left corner for the second goal.

After the break, Doris Boaduwaa added the third goal – her second of the day in the 58th minute before a defensive blunder gifted the Namibians a consolation in the 69th minute. Ghana’s coach Nora Hauptle is hopeful of maintaining the impressive unbeaten record (10 consecutive wins) as she aims to qualify for next year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after missing on the previous edition.

Ghana will now hold a significant advantage going into the second leg scheduled for Tuesday, December 5, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa.
