Olympic Games CAF Women’s Olympic qualifier: Banyana To Face Falcons

The rivalry between Nigeria and South Africa will continue as the Banyana Banyana will face the Super Falcons for a place in this year’s Olympic games in Paris.

South Africa defeated Tanzania 1-0 at the Mbombela stadium on Tuesday night in the third round of the CAF Women’s Olympic qualifier.

A goal in the 58th minute by Thembi Kgatlana was enough to hand the reigning Africa Women’s Champions a 4-0 aggregate.

South Africa defeated the Twigas Stars 3-0 in the first leg last week Friday and it was a walk in the park for the Banyana Banyana who could have scored more than one goal.

The game was a memorable one for Jermaine Seoposenwe as it was her 100th cap for the Banyana Banyana.

Seoposenwe was among the goalscorers in the first leg of the encounter in Tanzania.

The result now means they will face Nigeria Super Falcons who defeated the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon 1-0 on Monday.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated the South Africa in the semi final of the just concluded 2023 AFCON on penalties.

It could be a revenge mission for the South African ladies when both teams clash next month.
