Olympic Games Super Falcons Beat Lioness To Reach Fourth Round Of Women’s Olympic qualifier

Nigeria Super Falcons are through to the fourth round of the CAF Women’s Olympic qualifier after a 1-0 victory against the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon.

A 14th minute goal scored by Esther Okoronkwo was all the Super Falcons needed to qualify to the fourth round and will play the winner in the game between South Africa and Tanzania.

After failing to qualify to the last Olympic games, the Super Falcons were determined to rigjt the wrong in their quest to qualify to Paris 2024 Olympic games.

The nine-time African Women Football Champions played a goalless draw in the first leg in Douala and we’re condemned to win at home.

The host got off to a promising start with Esther Okoronkwo and Rasheedat Ajibade threatening to grab the opener in the opening minutes of the game.

It was not too long before Okoronkwo scored the goal which ended up being the only goal of the game.

Nigeria almost doubled the lead in the 31st minute through Jenifer Echegini but Cameroon goalkeeper denied her from close range.

Six minutes later, Ajibade came close again but the bravery of the goalkeeper saved the Lioness.

Cameroon were later reduced to 10- player after Enganemben Annie was sent off for unsporting conduct.

The Super Falcons will be hoping to get the ticket when they face either South Africa or Tanzania in the last lap to get ticket.
