Friendly Zambia arrive in Lilongwe for Four Nations tournament

The Chipolopolo boys of Zambia arrived safely in Lilongwe ahead of the Four Nations tournament hosted by Malawi.

All the 24 players summoned for duty have arrived in Lilongwe with the exception of skipper Lubambo Musonda who has been ruled out due to illness.

The 13 local players alongside China based Stoppilla Sunzu and Tanzania domiciled Clatous Chama were joined by the rest of the contigent flying from various bases at the Kamuzu International Airport.

The foreign based players that flew directly to Lilongwe are Patson Daka (Leicester-England), Emmanuel Banda (Rijeka-Croatia), Benson Sakala (Mlada Boleslav-Czech), Frankie Musonda (AYR United-Scotland), Miguel Chaiwa (Club Schaffhausen-Switzerland), Gamphani Lungu (SuperSport United-RSA), Obinno Chisala (Costa Do Sol-Mozambique), Gift Mphande (Hapoel Rishon-Israel) and Kennedy Musonda (Young Africans-Tanzania).

Coach Avram Grant has named a full strength squad for the FIFA window international freindly matches as it is the final opportunity for preparatory high level matches before the June back-to-back world cup qualifiers.

Zambia will play Zimbabwe on Saturday at the Bingu National Stadium at 14:00 hours with the Flames of Malawi taking on Kenya at 17:00 hours at the same venue.

Winners in the two matches will face off on Tuesday in the final while the losers will play a third and fourth place tie in an early kick-off at the same venue.
