Tanzania Yanga SC versus Simba SC Kariakoo derby gets new date

The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has announced that the Dar es Salaam Derby between rivals Young Africans (Yanga SC) and Simba will take place on April 20 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The match is scheduled to start at 5:00 pm. The board has informed both clubs and other stakeholders in the Premier League about the game, and preparations will begin soon to ensure that the match is played impeccably.

In their first-round meeting in the league, Simba suffered a 5-1 defeat, making the football community eagerly anticipate the outcome of the upcoming clash. Both teams recently returned home safely from Egypt and South Africa, where they played their second leg CAF Champions League quarter-final matches.

Simba, who lost 2-0 to Al Ahly, arrived home through Julius Nyerere International Airport. In the first leg at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium Simba lost 1-0. Before leaving Egypt, Tanzania’s Ambassador to Egypt, Ismail Shack, urged Simba players not to lose hope but work hard and qualify again for the Champions League next season.

Simba will engage Mashujaa in the Federation Cup tie at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma on Tuesday. On the other hand, Yanga arrived on Saturday night after going down 3-2 on post match penalties to Mamelodi Sundowns in another electric Champions League last eight encounter at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa.
