UEFA Champions League UCL: Kimmich Header Ends Arsenal Champions League Fairytale

Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich scored a header in the 63rd minute to give the Germans a 1-0 win over Arsenal on Wednesday in the Champions League.

With a 3-2 aggregate victory, the Germans advanced to the semi-finals for the first time in four years.

After a 2-2 first-leg tie, Germany’s international Kimmich timed his run into the box precisely to connect with a cross from Raphael Guerreiro and put Bayern, who had earlier missed two double chances, in the lead.

In the second half, with the hosts in total control, the visitors, hoping to advance to the competition’s semi-finals for the first time since 2009, lacked any sense of urgency.

The Bavarians, who have neither won the German Cup or the Bundesliga title, are having their worst domestic season in almost ten years.

They will next play Real Madrid or Manchester City in the round of 16.
