UEFA Champions League UCL: Kane Wants Bayern To Bounce Back From Bundesliga Flop

Harry Kane stated that his team needed to respond to the collapse of their Bundesliga championship defence.

Tuesday’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg between Bayern Munich and Arsenal ended in a 2-2 draw.

Bayern led 2-1 at the break as Bayern’s all-time leading goalscorer, Tottenham, overcame a 1-0 deficit with a penalty kick on his return to north London.

As the teams prepared to return to Germany the following week, Leandro Trossard tied the score with 14 minutes remaining.

Bayer Leverkusen is in position of winning their first championship after Bayern has lost their past two Bundesliga games.

Kane acknowledged that the pressure to triumph in Europe has increased for the Bavarian giants due to their league form, despite their 11-year winning streak in the German crown.

You saw a really determined team tonight. It was probably the perfect game to have because we needed a reaction from the last few games in the Bundesliga,” Kane told TNT Sports.

“We had to become more of a team if you want to be successful in this competition.”

Thomas Tuchel, the coach of Bayern, is already set to go at the end of the current campaign due to the team’s dismal performance.

However, Kane stated that Tuchel, who led Chelsea to victory in the Champions League in 2021, is keen to end his career on a positive note.

It’s a little bit strange,” added Kane on Tuchel’s impending departure.

“We all have huge respect for the boss and we all want to end his time here on a high.

“He’s not giving up at all, he wants to achieve something special with this team.”
