Uganda URA FC defeat NEC in first game since sacing David Obua

URA FC won their first match since late February on Tuesday, beating NEC 2-0 at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso to move a place up in the national championship.

Ivan Ahimbisibwe helped himself to a double as the Tax Collectors also started new life after the sacking of David Obua as coach. The Man of the Match scored in the seventh and 47th minutes to end a three-match losing run and also register URA’s first victory since February 29, when they beat Maroons 2-0.

It is that run that apparently cost Obua his job, but there was no missing him here as the two assistants named on URA’s bench, Ilic Molis and Robert Mukasa, enjoyed the ‘new’ coach bounce.

URA moved one place up to eighth on 34 points, while NEC are three places above on 40 marks.

Elsewhere, Baker Buyala and Vuni Joseph scored for UPDF and Gaddafi respectively as the duo settled for a point apiece in Bombo. UPDF remain second from bottom on 17 points while Gaddafi are a place above relegation on 19.
