Percy Tau has questioned the logic of staying at Brighton when he was not playing regular football following his move to Al Ahly. And The Sounth African international didn’t waste time in silencing his naysayers while revealing the reasons behind his decision to leave English Premier League side Brighton
Percy Tau offered a rather blunt explanation regarding his move from English Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion to Egyptian outfit Al Ahly.

Percy Tau has been subjected to much criticism following what many South Africans felt was a ‘step-backwards’. But the former Mamelodi Sundowns star has hit-back at his critics. And the Bafana Bafana star has since set the record straight!
“What is the point of me sitting on the bench when I am not playing? I want to see myself playing and my family wants to play. People will always have opinions, this is a big country.” Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau told members of the media.
“With most of these decisions I consider myself and how I feel. I know I always have the support of South Africa. And South Africa is a footballing nation.
“I have moved around before, I went from Witbank Spurs when I was 17 to the Sundowns academy. I went back to Witbank Spurs on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns. When I got to Brighton (in 2018) there was uncertainty. I went to Union St Gilloise, in Belgium.” – Percy Tau continued.
“I went to Bruges. It is part of my career to move around. Some feel if I stayed here at Brighton. I would have been okay. But you don’t know what I am going through here. And I was going through something where I felt it was better to move.” He said.
“Look, the move made more sense to me than staying in Europe. Of course there were offers in Europe. I considered them, considered my age and all the other factors that I have not disclosed to you guys [the media].”.
“I mean it made more sense for me to move to Egypt. It is good to have him [Pitso Mosimane] there because I know that he will challenge me to try to win.
“I know that he will make me a better person, a better player. It is about time because I also love to win games. I cannot wait to get started.” He added.
Percy Tau was recently announced as the Bafana Bafana vice-captain by coach Hugo Broos ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Ghana and Zimbabwe. SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams will captain the side.
