CAF Champions League CAF Women’s Champions League Draw To Hold On Friday

On Friday, September 9, 2022, the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League draw will take place. At that time, Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens will learn who their group rivals are.

The draw will occur in Rabat, Morocco, according to a statement issued by the CAF Communications Department on Thursday.

 “The official draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League 2022 will take place on Friday, 09 September 2022 at Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Rabat, Morocco.

The draw will be conducted at 11h30 local time.

Eight teams will participate in the tournament scheduled from 31 October 2022 to 13 November 2022 in Morocco, a country which hosted the successful TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations last July.

The participating teams to the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League have responded to the new CAF Club Licensing criteria and they represent all the six zonal unions.

“To complete the number of participants, UNIFFAC representative will be revealed after the conclusion of the zonal tournament set to take place from 10 to 16 September 2022 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.”

Seven teams have already reserved spots for the second edition: the hosts, AS FAR of Morocco, the Zambian Green Buffaloes (COSAFA champions), the Liberian Determine Girls FC (WAFU A champions), the Tanzanian Simba Queens FC (CECAFA champions), the Nigerian Bayelsa Queens (WAFU B champions), the Egyptian Wadi Degla FC (UNAF champions), and the South African Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies (CAF Women’s Champions League

After Rivers Angels participated in the inaugural edition in Egypt in 2021, Bayelsa Queens are the second Nigerian team to earn a spot in the competition.

This past weekend in the Yamoussoukro Stadium in Côte d’Ivoire, the Bayelsa Queens won the WAFU B Qualifiers competition after defeating Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies 3-0 in the final.
