AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Afcon 2013: S. Sangweni, Man of the 1st match-South Africa 2-2 Morocco

Good start from Morocco who earns a set-piece in the opening exchanges. Delivered in towards the edge of the area, Kaddioui strikes – but it’s flown just wide of the post.

EL ARABI! Brilliant save from Khune. It’s Morocco who has the first real chance on goal. A lovely lifted ball into the striker sees Khune race off his line and bat the ball away before holding the ball at the second attempt. South Africa is yet to race out of the blocks.

Barrada providing the spark early on, as he lifts a ball in towards the middle, but Dean Furman is again there to cancel it out and concede a corner. Morocco have really started this well – testament to Taoussi’s shaking fists on the touchline.

GOAL! MOROCCO TAKES THE LEAD! It’s a fine inswinging delivery from the corner. El Adoua gets his head on it, and Khune is absolutely nowhere to defend the ball. It goes in off the crossbar, and MOROCCO ARE AHEAD!

PERMUTATIONS: AS IT STANDS – Morocco would top the group with five points, with South Africa second in four. Both would go through. In Port Elizabeth – it’s currently Cape Verde 0-0 Angola (live also on Goal.com) – Cape Verde currently sit 3rd in the table.

More progress – albeit, slight – being made by South Africa. Phala skips past the challenge of Belghazouani and runs to the by-line before prodding a cross into the box. Ball just went out of play, with the referee awarding a goal-kick.

Chance for South Africa, who are now active in the Moroccan box. The loose ball falls to Serero, who controls well, before firing a low effort towards Lamyaghri. It’s somewhat tame, but it’s a shot on target. Improvements for Bafana Bafana.

Stupndous goal from May Siphwe Mahlangu. The Moses Mabidha Stadium roars in joy as South Africa equalise. Morocco’s Kamel Chafni is reprimanded for another tackle, this time on Serero.

GOAL! BAFANA BAFANA SCORE! DURBAN HAS COME ALIVE! Fantastic goal by Mahlangu who takes advantage of static defending to curl a strike into the top corner. A real fantastic goal.

GOAL! MOROCCO TAKES THE LEAD! Fantastic finish by Hafidi, who takes control of a cross, chests it down, and fires past Khune. So much time for the substitute. Durban is silenced.

Morocco celebrates, and South Africa are in despair. At the moment, they are all right, but things could change. It’s so tense here in Durban. Rachid Taoussi and his men celebrate on the touchline.

GOAL! SOUTH AFRICA EQUALISE! WHAT DRAMA! Superb drama, superb goal. Sangweni – up front, bends a FANTASTIC strike past Lamyaghri. BAFANA BAFANA ERUPT! IT’S 2-2!
