Brazil 2014 England: Jack Wilshere not hopeful of World Cup squad

Jack WilshereAfrica Top Sports reported earlier that though Jack Wilshere missed Arsenal’s recent games against Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund because of his latest ankle injury, Coach Roy Hodgson of England is not much worried and believes his midfielder will be firing on all cylinders again once the problem is finally healed.
But facing a fierce competition in England’s midfield ahead of the mass competition to be held in Brazil next summer, Wilshere dismisses for the moment any hope.
“That is where you are going to get into the England World Cup squad – by playing well for your club, and then you are going to get picked for your country,” Wilshere said.
“You have seen over the last couple of months that the talent there is, even in the Under-21s, with Ravel Morrison and all these players coming through. You are never guaranteed and cannot rest on your laurels”.

Coach Roy Hodgson is expected to unveil his provisional 30-man squad on 13 May, 2013 after having played a friendly against Denmark in March.
