Former Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko forward, Louis Agyemang, makes revelations over the habits of Ghana Premier League players .

Speaking to Angel TV, Agyemang, 37, said loudly what others may say by hiding. Without giving a name, he said there are smokers in the Ghanaian top-flight. Some even became smoking obsessed in such away that they have to do it before playing.

“Weed smoking among Ghanaian footballers is nothing new. Even some colts footballers smoke before playing,”

“So Premier League footballers smoking in Ghana is no news. It didn’t start today. We just have to be honest with ourselves and take measures to end it.” he said.

Meanwhile players of other championships haven’t the same reflex. And Agyemang made the link with South African Premier Soccer League. While he joined PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs in 2005.

“…When I went to South Africa, I realised that at the end of every game, they’ll invite one or two players and test their [blood and urine] samples.” he declared.

In order to eradicate this bad practice that can jeopardize the health of an athlete, former Medeama SC striker suggests Ghana should follow the South African exsample. That’s satart doing tests for players.

“It is because we don’t test in Ghana that’s why most of the players feel free to smoke. I can say it is one of the reasons some players cannot excel when they travel outside Ghana.” he added.
