Ghana Would they owe a white coach eleven months ? Kwesi Appiah questions

Kwesi Appiah

After being sacked following poor performance at 2019 AFCON, Kwesi Appiah still have not earn his arrears. What makes him asking some questions.

Appiah was warned very well before 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. If he fails to win the trophy, he will be simply sacked. And this is what happened as Black Stars were knocked out at round of 16. Following their defeat against Tunisia (1-1, 4-5)

However it’s all surprising that since August 2019, he hasn’t yet received his remained entitlements. And as months are passing without a fixed date of the payment apart from “soon”, the 59-year-old started asking some questions.

Talking to BBC Sports Africa, Appiah puts into perspective his current situation as a “Black” manager, questioning on what should have authorities done if it was a white coach.

“I was owed money since August 2019, when there was no Covid-19. Would they owe a white coach 11 months ?” questions ex-Ghana Black Stars captain.

“(My predecessor) Avram Grant was not owed more than a month when his contract ended” he added.

Moreover, Kwesi said this should not be encouraged. For both Black and White coaches.

“It’s not right and should not be encouraged – irrespective of whether (the coach is) local or foreign.”

It’s reported that all his arrears are near $200,000.
