Ligue 1 Draxler Last Gasp Goal Gives PSG First League Victory

After going two games without a win, Paris Saint-Germain finally got their first Ligue 1 Uber Eats victory against Metz courtesy of a Julian Draxler last gasp goal.

Having played in the final of last season UEFA Champions League where they narrowly lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich, PSG were expected to take the league by storm.

Their first league game against Lens saw the Parisians suffered a 1-0 loss away.

Then came the Le Classique against arch rival Marseille last weekend, they also lost 1-0 at home in a game that saw lots of temper flaring and ended with five players sent off.

Like champions, they bounced back to winning ways in Wednesday night rescheduled game against Metz.

Thomas Tuchel side was boosted with the return of Angel So Maria, Keylor Navas and Marquinhos who returned after self-isolation for COVID-19.

Metz gave the capital team a good run for as they almost conceded an early minute goal but for Navas who was on call to deny Niane in the 7th minute.

Again Navas was called into action to deny Boulaya after a misunderstanding that led to loss of possession in the defence.

PSG thought they has broke the deadlock many times but Metz goalkeeper Oukidja was in his best of form to keep his side in the game.

With 25 minutes left to end the game, PSG were reduced to 10-men after  Abdou Diallo received a second yellow card.

Metz failed to make judicious use of their numbers.

Both teams were heading for a share of the spoils after missing a much chances before PSG got their first goal of the season.

Di Maria cross was poorly parried by Metz goalkeeper,  Oukidja who had kept out many opportunities to score before Draxler pounced on the ball for the lone goal in 90 +3 minutes.

They will be aiming for a second consecutive win this weekend when they travel to play against Nice on Sunday.
