Africa Soccer MOZAMBIQUE: Mambas assured of chartered plane

The Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) has assured the country’s senior national team, the Mambas, that they will fly on a chartered plane to Cameroon for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.

Mambas are expected to fly out to Douala on November 9 before hosting the Indomitable Lions on November 16 in Maputo, according to Opais newspaper of Mozambique.

The away game is scheduled for November 12.

The newspaper has quoted FMF acting general secretary Hilario Madeira as making the assurance.

“Preparation begins on day three when athletes who work internally will be on an internship starting with the Covid-19 test. On the 7th, the delegation must perform the Covid-19 test again to be able to continue to Cameroon on the 9th. Players who play outside the country will join the delegation in Douala and the return is scheduled soon after the game to allow better preparation for the game of the second game,” Madeira says.

“We are in coordination with the SED to see if it allows us to have at least half the capacity of the National Stadium of Zimpeto (20 thousand spectators) and we are aware that this authorization requires the approval of the President of the Republic. We are hoping that by the end of the week, we will have an answer to this matter.”

To motivate the players, FMF has since increased game bonuses for the players with each entitled to 80,000 meticais for a win, up from 60,000 meticais.

“The executive management of FMF decided to increase the award to 80 thousand meticais per victory, but after the double header it will remain the same,” Madeira said.
