AFCON AFCON : MICHO RECALLS CAPTAIN KABASO CHONGO

Zambia coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has recalled skipper Kabaso Chongo for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The TP Mazembe centre-back was released from camp in Nairobi last year just 24 hours after Chipolopolo lost 2-1 there in a friendly against Kenya.

Apart from Chongo, Micho has picked the usual players, including in-form Augustine Mulenga who plays for AmaZulu in South Africa and Austria-based attackers Enock Mwepu and Patson Daka.

The Chipolopolo host African champions, Algeria, on March 25 2021 then travel to rivals and neighbours Zimbabwe.

At the moment, Zambia’s chances of qualifying for AFCON hang in the balance after 5-0 and 2-1 losses to Algeria and Botswana.

Zambia beat Botswana 1-0 in the reverse fixture and remain bottom of the group with three points from four games. Botswana have four points whereas Zimbabwe have five points.

Algeria already sealed their place at the next edition of the AFCON finals as they lead the table with 10 points.
