Zambian striker Patson Daka has won the Player of the Month award for February.

Daka earned the award after polling 57 percent out of the 3,900 votes cast.

“Ding Dong, there goes another. Our Zambian smashed the opponents’ net six times in February in total. He now leads the Tipico Bundesliga top goalscorer list. His hat-trick against Rapid was a real highlight, with his gazelle-like legs causing havoc in the Green and Whites’ defence,” Salzburg website reports.

The Zambian would be hoping to replicate his form with the Chipolopolo as he has been named in the squad for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Daka was followed on second place by Brenden Aaronson who earned 23 percent of the votes cast.

“He didn’t have to wait long. On only his second start, Brenden scored his first goal for us against Austria Vienna. You can’t help but enjoy him in full flow taking the ball forward, twisting and bamboozling defenders,” the website reports.

Rasmus Kristensen and Mergim Berish finished on third and fourth places after polling 14 and six percent of the votes respectively.

 

“It wouldn’t be a vote for Player of the Month without Ras being in the mix. It’s the third time in a row that he has made the shortlist, and he won the last award just ahead of Patson Daka. His no-nonsense style of play provides inspiration to his team-mates when things aren’t going too well. Our Iceman has shown plenty of attacking intent lately as well, playing almost as a fifth midfielder and getting into the penalty area increasingly often,” Salzburg website reports.

 

“Don’t ask us, ask EA Sports! Mergim rightfully earned a place in the FIFA Team of the Week after four assists in the home match against Rapid. He is always on to receive a pass, battles for every ball and normally wins them too. His equaliser to make it 2-2 in Tirol put us on course to complete a late comeback.”
