South Africa Kaizer Chiefs win 2021 Carling Cup after beating Pirates on penalties

Kaizer Chiefs claimed the 2021 Carling Cup as they defeated Orlando Pirates in final on Sunday afternoon with Glamour Boys securing the trophy in penalty shoot-out (4-3) after a goalless draw at then end of the additional time.

The match has been a tough one as both sides tried to score during the 90 minutes but failed to do so.

Despite Samir Nurkovic’s attempts for Chiefs and Thembikhosi Lorch’s work to get Pirates ahead, both teams had to seperate themselves on penalties.

And Kaizer Chiefs’ goalkeeper Brandon Peterson who came on for the moment turned hero as he saved the last penalty to hand Stuart Baxter his first trophy with the Naturena-based outfit.
