AFCON CAF Increases Cash Price For AFCON 2021 Winner

The Confederation of African Football CAF  Patrice Motsepe said the body is set to increase the cash reward for the winners of the 2021 edition of the African Cup of Nations.

During the draw held last week in Yaounde, Cameroon, Motsepe dropped the hint on the intention of the body to introduce more cash rewards into the biennial tournament.

In 2019 Desert Warriors of Algeria who won the title got $4.5m, first runners up Teranga Lions of Senegal got $2.5m while Nigeria’s Super Eagles who finished third received $2m.

According to a statement by CAF the winners are set to earn a whopping $7m as cash prize.

While the cash prize for the other stage is yet to be determined.

24 countries including Nigeria will jostle for honour in Cameroon in January 2022.

The 24 teams have been grouped in six group of four teams each.
