Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez scored once for Manchester City as they cruised to a 6-3 win over Leicester City on Sunday evening.

Leicester had Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho as among the scorers at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League match.

Mahrez and Iheanacho’s form should please Algeria and Nigeria going to the Africa Cup of Nations, which kicks off on January 9 2022.

City led 4-0 at break after goals from Kevin De BruyneMahrez, Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling.

Leicester fought back momentarily to reduce the deficit through James Maddison, Ihenanacho and Ademola Lookman.

However, defender Aymeric Laporte and forward Raheem Sterling scored for Manchester and restored the advantage for the defending champions.

Manchester City went six points clear before other games involving second-placed Liverpool and third-positioned Chelsea who were in action on Sunday evening.
