AFCON AFCON: Eguavoen Finally Releases Super Eagles 28-Man Squad List

Super Eagles interim coach Austine Eguavoen has finally released the team 28-man for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Eguavoeon who was appointed to take over from sacked Gernot Rohr, delayed releasing the squad for AFCON 2021.

The 28-man squad included in-form Watford forward, Emmanuel Dennis, Union Berlin goalpoacher, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Victor Osimhen who declared himself for the tournament after he was earlier ruled out.

Also, Umar Sadiq and former Akwa United defender, Olisa Ndah made the list which was was released to the media by the Communications Department of the NFF on Christmas day – December 25, 2021.

All invited players, except the UK-based crew, are expected to arrive in camp in the Nigeria’s federal capital, Abuja on 29th December, with the UK-based players expected to start arriving on Monday, 3rd January.

Notable names who made the list are William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Ola Aina, Samuel Chukwueze, Daniel Akpeyi, Maduka Okoye and Francis Uzoho.

The Eagles are in Group D with Egypt, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan at the 2021 AFCON.

They will open their campaign against seven-time African champions Egypt on January 11.
