Premier League PGMOL Accepts Making Mistake At Chelsea And Newcastle

body of a referee PGMOL will fully cooperate with a Premier League investigation into the controversial VAR judgments that were made at Chelsea and Newcastle.

Newcastle United and West Ham were denied goals against Crystal Palace and Chelsea, respectively, as a result of the rulings.

The on-pitch referee verified the goals both teams believed they had scored.

But following VAR, the goals were ruled invalid in each case.

The rulings have drawn harsh criticism, with many saying that the VAR’s job is not to overturn questionable previous judgements.

As soon as possible, the Premier League will review the rulings with the PGMOL.

With the Premier League’s request, the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) will completely cooperate and work together, using the results as part of an ongoing evaluation of weekly performances and the future growth of its match officials.

When Maxwel Cornet’s shot in the 90th minute was disallowed because Jarrod Bowen was deemed to have fouled Edouard Mendy in the build-up, David Moyes referred to the judgment as “scandalous.”

“The goalkeeper comes to take it, and actually fumbles it out of his hands five or six yards, so he could never recover it,” said Moyes, who added he was “embarrassed” for VAR official Jarred Gillett.

“Then he acted as if he had a shoulder injury. I’m amazed that VAR sent the referee to see it.

“It was a ridiculously bad decision. I’d question VAR as much as the referee, but the referee should have stuck to his own guns – there is no excuse for that not to be a goal, none whatsoever.

“The sad thing is this is the level of the weak refereeing at the moment.”

Meanwhile, Newcastle’s boss Eddie Howe witnessed what he described as a “perfectly good goal” versus Palace chalked off.

Despite Newcastle believing the midfielder was shoved by Mitchell, Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell turned the ball into his own net, and referee Michael Salisbury ruled it out for a foul by Joe Willock on goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.
