Nigerian Players abroad Awoniyi,Dennis Missing In Action In Forest Win Against Palace

Super Eagles duo, Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis were missing in action as Nottingham Forest secured a vital 1-0 win against Crystal Palace in Saturday’s Premier League.

Awoniyi who was part of Forest team that ousted Tottenham from the Carabao Cup had to watch from the bench while Dennis was not included in the team.

The victory saw Nottingham Forest avoided being bottom of the Premier League at Christmas in a game heavy on VAR decisions.

After Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita parried a shot from Brennan Johnson, Morgan Gibbs-White pushed the ball home from close range, but the play had first been marked offside.

Replays initially looked to support the verdict, but after a protracted delay, the video assistant referee gave the goal, which turned out to be the game-winning score.

Wilfried Zaha had earlier missed a penalty after Joe Worrall was found to have fouled him, but Palace had only themselves to blame for the loss.

Forest moves up two spots to 18th after the win, leaving them off the bottom of the standings, while Palace stays in 11th position after suffering just its second loss in seven league games.
