Transfer window Paul Onuachu completes Southampton move from KRC Genk

Nigerian centre-forward joined Premier League side Southampton on a €18m transfert from Belgian top-flight side KRC Genk.

This will be the first European Top 5 challenge for the 28-year old Super Eagle who plied his trade at Danish side FC Midtjylland from 2013 to 2015 and at KRC Genk from 2019 to January 2023.

“Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce it has completed the signing of striker Paul Onuachu from Belgian club KRC Genk, subject to a work permit and international clearance”, the Saints announced.

“The 28-year-old joins from the Jupiler Pro League leaders on a contract until 2026.”

Speaking over Paul Onuachu signing, Southampton manager Nathan Jones said : “Paul is a significant signing for us and completes what has been an extremely positive month in terms of recruitment.

“He’s a handful to play against, has got a tremendous record throughout his career and he’s also someone who brings great experience with him, so he’ll be a really positive addition to the squad.”

In addition, Onuachu was leading Jupiler Pro League top scorers chart with 16 goals in 19 appearances before leaving KRC Genk.
