Premier League Newcastle seals Champions League spot after goalless draw vs Leicester

Newcaste is back in the UEFA Champions league twenty years after their last campaign in the competition following their goalless draw against Leicester City tonight.

The Magpies needed only a win to secure their place for next season’s Champions league group stages.

And they did being so discplined defensively as Foxes tried to score in the dying minutes of the game.

No matter what happens during the last matchday of the Premier League, Newcastle is sure to end in the Top 4.

The last time Magpies played in Champions league was during the 2002/03 season with their iconic captain Alan Shearer.

The Prmeier League all-time top scorer was even at St James’ Park and enjoyed his former club’s qualification.

“Champions league anybody”, he reacted on Twitter at full-time.

Meanwhile, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Patson Daka and teammates will have to wait until their last game to know whether they can escape relegation.
