Tanzania Premier League Simba SC’s Chama slapped with three-match suspension

Simba SC midfielder Clatous Chama will miss the remaining matches of the Tanzanian Premier League campaign after he was handed a three-match suspension.

Apart from the ban, the 31-year-old Zambia international was hit with a fine of 500, 000 after he allegedly fouled Ruvu Shooting defender Abal Kassim during their league fixture at Azam Complex.

Simba won the fixture 3-0 to relegate Ruvu from the Premier League. A statement from Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) confirmed Chama’s ban in accordance with section 41:5(4.2) of the league’s player regulations.

According to TPLB, the incident occurred far from where the ball was making it difficult for the referee to notice.

Chama will thus miss Simba’s remaining two league matches – against Polisi Tanzania at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on May 24, against Coastal Union at the same venue on May 28, and one fixture for the new 2023-24 campaign.
