Burundi Bumamuru FC crowned Burundi Premier League champions

Bumamuru FC are the new champions of the Burundi Premier League after defeating Olympique Star 5-0 in their final fixture of the season on Saturday.

The team founded in 2014, dominated the home fixture at Urunani Stadium notching three goals in the first half before adding two in the second period for the emphatic victory.

The victory enabled Bumamuru to reach 68 points at the summit of the 16-team table, one more than second-placed Flambeau du Centre, who were the league winners in the 2022 season.

Le Messager FC de Ngozi, who won their final fixture of the season 4-1 against Bujumbura City at Stade Rukundo, finished third after amassing 56 points while Vital’O came fourth with 54 points.

This is the first Burundi Primus Ligue title for Les Vertsblancs.
