AFCON Caf clears Rwanda to play Afcon matches at Huye Stadium

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has cleared Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) to host Amavubi’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches at Huye Stadium.

The Southern Province-based stadium was banned from hosting Rwanda’s previous qualifier against Benin on March 29 because the host town, Huye, did not have a five-star hotel.

However, Huye City has met the requirements needed by Caf and according to Ferwafa, they have been cleared to use the stadia.

“We are happy to inform Rwandans that Huye Stadium is approved to host matches for the ticket to play in Afcon, as Caf informed Ferwafa,” a Twitter statement by Rwanda FA reads in part.

Rwanda will now host Mozambique at Huye Stadium on June 18. They are currently sitting bottom of Group L with two points from four matches and their final group fixture will see them travel to face Senegal.
