AFCON Afcon 2023: Morocco the best team in Africa – South Africa’s Broos

South Africa coach Hugo Broos has labelled Morocco as the best in Africa because they possess great quality.

Bafana Bafana will come up against the North Africans in their fifth fixture of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at FNB Stadium on Saturday. With Morocco winning the first leg 2-1, South Africa will be going for revenge but Broos is aware it will not be an easy task.

“Morocco is the best team in Africa. They showed these eight months ago by ending fourth in the World Cup so that means that they are a good side,” said Broos as quoted by CafOnline, adding: “They have players playing in Europe and we know what to expect from them. It will also be a good test for us to show the progression we have made.”

The Belgian tactician, who has qualified the team for their first Afcon final since their last appearance in Egypt four years ago, further said he will use the fixture to win back the support of Bafana Bafana fans.

“We have been playing in front of empty stadiums for the last two years and you need the public for an opponent like Morocco. Secondly, we have to win back the public with a good performance. Bafana Bafana is not popular in South Africa and maybe tomorrow is the best opportunity to win back the public and play well in front of our supporters,” added Broos.

The return leg will kick off at 15:00 GMT.
