Transfers Al Hilal closing in on Senegal defender Koulibaly from Chelsea

Saudi Pro League outfit Al Hilal are on the verge of signing defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Chelsea.

According to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs have already reached a verbal agreement over the transfer of the Senegal captain and he could become the second player from the Blues moving to Saudi Arabia.

“Understand Al Hilal are now closing in on Kalidou Koulibaly deal, here we go!,” wrote Romano, adding: “#CFC #AlHilal verbal agreement reached with Chelsea. Personal terms also agreed on a three-year contract — he’ll join Ruben Neves. Contracts now being checked… and then signed.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad SC confirmed the signing of N’Golo Kante who will become a free agent at the end of his Chelsea contract in June.

The 32-year-old Kante had already been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, and the club announced his arrival with a sequence of social media posts, hailing the French midfielder as the best box-to-box player in the world.

Koulibaly signed for Chelsea in 2022 on a four-year contract for a fee reported to be in the region of £33 million. He made his Chelsea debut in a 1-0 away league win over Everton and scored his first Chelsea goal in his home debut on August 14, in a 2-2 home league draw against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
