COSAFA Cosafa Cup: Eswatini Rally Back To Stun Namibia

Absalom Iimbondi’s goal gave Namibia the lead against Eswatini after 34 minutes but they failed to hold on as Eswatini claimed a 2-1 win in the Cosafa Cup.

Eswatini’s two goals in the final three minutes of the first half completely changed the course of the match.

After Sifiso Matse restored parity, Bongwa Matsebula quickly put them in lead, and they were able to hold on to win.

When Zambia plays Comoros in their second Group B match on Sunday at 15h00 CAT, the defending champions are in need of a victory.

In their opening match, Zambia fell to Malawi 1-0, while Comoros defeated Seychelles 3-0 to earn their biggest-ever victory in COSAFA Cup games.

With another victory, Comoros can virtually eliminate Zambia from the tournament, but Chipolopolo will be eager to rebound back as they pursue a record-tying eighth continental championship.

In the second game of the day, Malawi will try to make it two straight victories when they take on Seychelles (kickoff: 18h00 CAT), who have only won one of their previous 32 COSAFA Cup contests.

Although Malawi appeared to have plenty of offensive flair in their victory over Zambia, Seychelles will try to make things difficult for their pool rivals.
