The Banyana Banyana of South Africa receive a major boost concerning the injury of their captain Refiloe Jane ahead of their decisive Women’s World Cup last group stage clash against Italy on Wednesday.

The 30-year old was stretchered off the pitch during the disappointing 2-2 draw against Argentina on Thursday night.

However, there is nothing serous with her as Banyana Banyana doctor provided encouraging update on her.

“Refiloe is doing well. After going for a scan it was confirmed that she sustained a soft tissue injury and she should be back on the field soon,” Doctor Maesela confirmed.

“I can further confirm that there are no other injuries or illnesses within the team.

“Everyone is healthy and ready to continue with preparations for our final group match against Italy on Wednesday.”

With 1 point after two games, South Africa must defeat Italy on Wednesday (7:00 GMT) with a large margin in order to seal their round of 16 qualification.
