Kenya Mieno leaves Tusker FC amid Kakamega Homeboyz link

FKF Premier League outfit Tusker FC have confirmed the exit of long-serving midfielder Humphrey Mieno after the expiry of his contract ahead of the new season.

The Brewers announced the exit of the 33-year-old Mieno, who joined the Ruaraka-based outfit in 2019 after leaving Saint George S.C. of Ethiopia, on their social media pages by stating: “Words will never be enough to say thank you to this great gentleman of the game,” adding: “A gentle giant on and off the pitch, our skipper Humphrey (Mieno) leaves the club after the expiry of his contract. We wish our skipper all the best in his new adventure.”

However, Africa Top Sports understands Mieno, who made his debut for Tusker in a 1-1 draw against Thika United at the Thika Municipal Stadium in their first league game of the season on February 21, 2015, and guided them to the FKF league title in the previous campaign, is a target for Kakamega Homeboyz.

A source within the Kakamega-based club confirmed their admiration for Mieno, whom they believe would be a good addition to the squad as they prepare to make their debut in the Caf Confederation Cup where they have been pitted against Al Hilal Benghazi of Libya in the first preliminary round of the inter-club competition.

Mieno, whose career has seen him play for Mahakama, KCB, Club African of Tunisia, Sofapaka, AFC Leopards, and Gor Mahia, joins the list of players who have been released by Tusker after they surrendered the league title to rivals K’Ogalo on the final day of last season.

Other players who have so far left the Brewers include striker David Majak, midfielder Shami Mwinyi, goalkeeper Michael Wanjala, Jackson Macharia, Kevin Monyi, and Tanzanian defender Kalos Kirenge.
