Nigeria legend Sunday Oliseh congratulated Super Falcons despite their elimination from Women’s World Cup round of 16 following their 2-4 defeat to England in the penalty shootout session.

After securing a hard-fought goalless draw, the Super Falcons could have emerged as quarter-finalists of the tournament.

However, Desire Oparanozie and Michelle Alozie missed their spot-kicks and Nigeria bowed to England’s Lionesses.

Despite his heart being broken after the knockout, Sunday Oliseh hailed the Super Falcons for their performance throughout the competition.

 “I am totally heartbroken but at the same time so proud of our “Extra Super” Falcons today”, he wrote on Twitter.

“In spite of all the hardship and at times inhuman mistreatment, they have put Nigeria back up in world Football. God bless them all!!”
